2011 'Terre d'Illite' Blanc de Noir's Extra Brut
Champagne Moussé Fils
Named after the green clay found in Cuisles, the 'Terre d'Illite' presents itself with a very special minerality. In times of prolonged drought during the summer months, 'Illite' is the only type of soil that retains its moisture, ensuring that there is always enough water for the grapes.
The vintage 2013 results from a rather wet spring, which followed a very cold and rainy winter. It was only after the 14th of July that the sun came back. After a fairly dry summer and September, the harvest began on 3 October with very low yields, but excellent quality.
Champagne has been produced here since 1923, making Cédric Moussé the fourth generation to perfect the cultivation of Meunier. The image of the grape and the terroir should always remain recognizable in the characteristics of its champagne. This credo is perfectly realized by Cédric Moussé. He is considered one of the few Meunier masters of Champagne.
Since 2005, Moussé Fils belongs to the select circle of the "Club Tresors de Champagne" and was the first to be allowed to produce a 100% Meunier Champagne for the special vintage Champagne "Special Club".
The champagnes of Cédric Moussé are all very mineral, powerful and expressive.
