Details
The Blaaack is the 2020 committee release of the Islay distillery Ardbeg.
It matured in Pinot Noir barrels from New Zealand.
Not colored and filtered cool.Aroma: Caramel and a dash of smoke on the first approach.
The campfire is definitely on the beach, with a little bacon.
Red wine? A hint of berries, yes, a little woody, maybe.
But overall rather sweet and smoky. Fine!Taste: The first start is "punchy", slightly tingly, dry and directly smoky.
A bit of bitterness comes through, but it is also in the middle of it
a full basket of red berries (strawberry, raspberry, a little currant),
a mixture of sweet, sour and smoky arises. No sheep there!Finish: The finish is of course quite long-lasting
with a bit of caramel sweetness and light fruit.
There is also ash and smoke, the fire has slowly burned down and is glowing.An exciting Ardbeg that wins over time. quite good.
Neither the smoke nor the wine barrel take complete control,
rather there is good harmony.
