With our vintage sardines we have a very special specialty for you on offer: They are always caught only at the end of the season, usually in September. Because then the sardines are "vraiment exceptionnel" and have the right size. The catches are freshly processed, hand-picked and not too tight in premium cold-pressed olive oil.
In their collector's cans specially designed by the artist Coralie Joulin and Delphine Cossais, they can then mature in peace. Stored in a cool place, the oil can circulate very well and penetrate the fish from all sides. Especially if the doses are turned every 3-6 months. The longer they ripen, the more tender and flavorful the sardines become. The sardines that are much sought after by gourmets have a minimum shelf life of 10 years, but can also be stored much longer.
The collection consists of 2 cans, each designed by the two artists, the three consecutive vintages 2015 to 2017. So you can easily "taste" your favorite in taste and texture yourself ...
With La Perle des Dieux , we have discovered a small manufactory founded in 2005 in Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, a renowned fishing port in Brittany: Phillipe Gendreau comes from a family already working in sardine fishing for the 4th generation. His partner Claudie Vardelle is a passionate foodie, comes from the fashion business and stands for the feminine side, because in the sardine production traditionally women work mainly.
