A doormat in front of the house or apartment door is extremely practical and actually indispensable. At the same time, it is a first message about the culture and attitude of the people who live behind the door. In contrast to widespread HOME lettering or cat motifs, this doormat stands for a clear welcome message to the visitors: SALVE! For Goethe fans, she is a real 'insider' - and she only exists here.

Goethe had designed the entrance of his private residence on the Weimar Women's Plan towards the end of the 18th century, in the style of the Italian Renaissance. He received his visitors according to Roman custom with the now famous SALVE greeting, which is still on the threshold today. Anyone who crossed this threshold could be sure of the hospitality of the host. True to Goethe's motto: "Should it flow abundantly to you, plenty of others let enjoy".

Doormat made of 100% coconut, gummed on the underside.

When used in the interior, if it is not directly exposed to sun and rain, the doormat usually remains durable for years and beautiful. Of course, abrasion and wear in the natural product due to use are unavoidable.

Made in Germany.

The Klassik Shop Weimar is actually more than just one: We run all the museum shops for Klassik Stiftung Weimar, e.g. in the historic homes of Goethe and Schiller, in the Anna Amalia Library, and we also take care of the assortments in the museums of e.g. Liszt, Nietzsche and in the castles and parks of the city and its surroundings.
