The Weimar Consul General in Leipzig, Felix Ferdinand Heinrich Küstner, with whom Goethe had a good correspondence and personal contacts, asked the poet in a letter on 18 August 1830, in the name of some dignified and amiable women, for some modified leaflets which he had attached. to write his name. Goethe gladly accepted this request and sent back the papers on the 31st of August. In addition to his signature, these autograph cards also contained sayings and small poems. Goethe writes on his penultimate birthday.
