{ Magnolia x soulangeana }

The magnolias are a genus of flowering plants in the family Magnoliaceae (Magnoliaceae), which counts about 250 species from East Asia or America and the development probably dates back over 100 million years. The French botanist Plumier had discovered the magnolia in the USA when he was researching there for new plants on behalf of Louis XIV. He dedicated it to his famous compatriot, the botanist Pierre Magnol and gave her the name "Magnolia". The first of its kind came to France in 1740 through a trader who traveled back and forth between Europe and America, and has since conquered a place in many gardens worldwide as a cultivated plant. This is not surprising, as flowering magnolias are the most beautiful plants have to offer. And quite rightly, the magnificent plant with lush blossoms deserves the title "Queen of the Woods," of which the tulip magnolia we use is the most widespread. Fortunately, we were able to harvest a magnolia in our own garden, because who can afford to plunder the beautiful flowers of his entire tree, which, in addition to their appearance, also awaken the spring fever in us through their scent? A fragrance that combines mild creamy floral with transparent fruity aquatic and slightly spicy to honey sweet notes with a delicate hint of citrus, making the spirit of magnolia something as sublime and exclusive as the flower itself. It is worthwhile to experiment with it, as you can do it by the way with the petals themselves: they taste wonderfully raw in the salad or baked out in the batter!
